    1-It does look similar to it. 2-Maybe something in the rosette grasses (Dichanthelium). According to sources some of the tall types grown in TX are D. acuminatum (tapered rosettegrass), D. scabriusculum(Wooly rosettegrass), D.scooarum (velvet grass / broom panic), D. shaerocarpon (roundseed panicgrass) etc…
