Notes:
I would like help identifying this weed. It is taking over my backyard. It has spines on the stem that poke through regular gloves, so I have to use a weeding tool to remove. It starts with 3 leaves and a “full growth” branch has 5 leaves. When the soil is wet, and I get to a root to pull, I notice that the root system appears to be long and reaches a few feet. Is anyone familiar with this weed? How can I get rid of it for good. I don’t want to be fighting it every weekend this summer.

What is the best way to remove this from my garden? I don’t want to hurt the other shrubs in the area, so I have been pulling by hand. Is there a targeted spray I could use to help speed the removal?
