Notes:

Planted multiple bird habitat wild flower packets and got all this. Not sure what any if it is. The one picture I’m pretty sure is some type of marigold, but they are 7′ tall with small daisy like yellow flowers.

I agree with Jim, these plants are beautiful. However in my humble opinion dogfennel & goldenrod are very high maintenance plants, and I try not add more works to the unending gardening chores. But it’s your garden, so you can grow what’s ever….:). The included link below with tip for growing & keeping goldenrod in check. The cosmos & goldenrod make good cut flowers, I grew them one time for a friend’s fall wedding. You could make new post with photos of the one “with fuzzy stem, and smells a little like dill”. Thank you & best wishes Kaye1253! https://plants.usda.gov/plantguide/pdf/pg_soca6.pdf

Yes, just about everything in the first photo is a ‘weed”, but I think it is as beautiful as many a planned and nurtured plot.

Thank you! After looking at the links, I think we do have Dog Fennel, and a couple different varieties. I can send a close up of yellow flower. I was beginning to think I had mutant marigolds that were 7 feet tall. Are the Dog Fennel and Goldenrod, plants I need to get rid of? There’s 1 other plant we seem to have a lot of, too. Fuzzy stem, and smells a little like dill.

I want to add that those lower plants with yellow flowers in the #1 photo are species of goldenrod (Solidago), looks like you might have several species (?). Check it out and see if you have a match. The included link below is for one of the species Canadian goldenrod (Solidago canadensis). http://www.bio.brandeis.edu/fieldbio/medicinal_plants/pages/Canada_Goldenrod.htm

#1 I can’t see details of flowers & leaves to be certain. Can you give us closeup of the plant. But I’m wondering if #1 and #3 are either the same or they are different species in the dog-fennel group. Check out these included for further information.
