Notes:
These 2 examples (brown spiky spears) are samples. I have already chopped several in the area, but have no idea what they are. These 2 are about 1 (short one) and 3-4 weeks above ground. They never green up, so I’m thinking fungus of some sort. Any ideas how to figure out what they are? We are high desert here, and these seem to like the shade of Ponderosa pines.
