Notes:
Tall plant, 4 to 6 feet. Leaves are maybe 8 to 1o inches long. Stem seems kinda woody, though I have not touched it because it has fine hairs that may (or may not) hurt. I only have seen it on the edge of wooded areas, so I assume it likes sunlight. I’ve seen it near where I work and also about 10 miles South near where I live (also on edge of wooded area with lots of sun). Seems like 4 or 5 of them like to grow together. It’s not seeded yet.

I’ve reviewed a later picture I took of the top of the plant that shows some flowers getting ready to form up there. It’s not obvious, but I think this probably is a tall ironweed. There’s a LOT of ironweed near where these pics were taken, but all that shorter stuff has already bloomed.

I’m thinking Veronia altissima Ironweed, tall with attractive purple flwrs.

I’m not sure, but I *think* I’ve since identified this as some kind of evening primrose.
