Zoysiagrass- Powder
Q: I have a zoysiagrass lawn. I have noticed an orange powder building up on the blades. What is it?
A: Rust disease is more common in the cool, moist conditions of late fall but it can occur any time. It is likely to be more severe in shady areas. Mow every 4-5 days and catch the clippings if possible. There are lawn fungicides (Mancozeb, Immunox, Bayleton) available to control rust. Read the label carefully and use the rate and timing that is indicated.
