Maybe Euphorbia lathyris, some of the common names include: gopher spurge, and mole plant. Check it out and see if you have a match. According to sources, all parts of E. lathyris including roots are poisonous. https://www.google.com/search?q=Euphorbia+lathyris&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi70p3tpf3KAhUKJiYKHf8_ArwQiR4IlQE&biw=1920&bih=909
