Notes:
We moved in to our new house (Central Indiana) in October, and by then most of the plant life from the previous owners had gone away for the winter. Spring is here, and we’re starting to see all the nice flowers and various plants that the previous owners had planted. The one in the picture however eludes me. It came up very suddenly and has gotten quite large. I have no idea what it is going to turn into, and I hope someone here can help!

I tie my peonies loosely with burlap or hemp twine, reapplying in layers as they grow. Mine usually grow to about knee high. This is the first time I commented.

Yep, I’d say you have a some peonies. Those flowers are going to get big and heavy, so I suggest finding a way to prop them up or they’re going to be laying on the ground.

Yes, small bulbs about the size of a nickel have started to appear at the tips. They are growing very fast, as well.

BTW peonies are absolutely beautiful when they bloom, but the flowers tend to get large and heavy bending the plant over. Be ready to stake and tie them up.

this looks very much like the peonies that used to come up every spring in our old home.

A little hard to be sure from the picture, but that looks quite a bit like my peonies right now. Any small round buds at the tip of the stems?
