Mosquito – Males vs. Females
Q: I’ve heard that only the female mosquito bites you. If so, what does the male eat?
A: Male mosquitoes feed on plant nectar. Their mouthparts are not capable of piercing skin. Males may live a few days to more than a week, depending on the weather, but females may live for two to three weeks. She uses her “blood meals” to form the proteins necessary to produce her eggs.
