How To Use 1-800-ASKUGA-1

As far as I’m concerned, it’s magic.

For years, I struggled with telling radio listeners how to telephone their local University of Georgia Extension office. With 159 counties in Georgia, each one having an Extension office and each one having a different phone number, it was very hard to keep them all straight.

Now they have one magic number: 1-800-ASKUGA-1

No matter where you live in Georgia, dialing this number will connect you to your local Extension office. This gives you direct access to all of the knowledge, research and publications the University of Georgia College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences has to offer.

Professional Extension agents or Master Gardeners in each office man the phone lines. They typically have an answering machine attached to the phone for weekend or after-hours calls.

One note: if you use your cell phone and the billing address isn’t local, you’ll be connected to the Extension office in the county where your bill goes.

Whether you need answers about your landscape, household problems or family development, use the magic number: 1-800-ASKUGA-1.
