Camellia – Buds Won’t Open
Q: Now in December, I have a camellia bush loaded with buds that won’t open. They have looked like they want to open for the last two months. It gets nice filtered sun for several hours a day.
A: I think you have a Japanese camellia whose bloom time has not yet occurred. Camellia japonicatypically blooms from January thru March. In contrast, sasanqua camellias bloom in fall and early winter. Give it time; I bet you’ll have blooms in a few weeks.
