Notes:
This plant appeared last year – climbing 15 feet up through a tree. I did not plant it and have not seen a variety like it.

Yes, a Clematis. Probably a semi-double Clematis montana cultivar like ‘Jenny’ ( http://www.botanicalstockphotos.com/photo-clematis-montana-jenny-15790.htm ). It’s hard to tell from one photo, though, and there are other clematis that look similar.
