Notes:

My buddy has a tree in his front yard that has a nut I am trying to identify. It is a greenish-red husk surrounding 3 dark brown pods. The husk peeled away on its own after being in my kitchen for a day. I have also included a picture of the foliage. The best I could see on-line is that it may be a shagbark hickory, but couldn’t find enough information. Any assistance would be appreciated.

That is a seed from a camellia. They seem to be prolific this year.

How tall is that tree? I wonder if Stone answered a similar mystery recently. http://www.walterreeves.com/name-that-plant/sasanqua-fruit/
