Notes:

This tree just started growing in my side yard and has grown pretty quickly! It’s in mostly shade and I haven’t watered it at all. I want to relocate it because it’s growing right outside my door and against the house, but want to know what it is first. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

beachbum44 I would exclude it from any area within your primary garden plan. Here is what Walter has to say about black walnut effects on other plants: http://www.walterreeves.com/landscaping/black-walnut-allelopathy/

Thank you, Bobby. I looked up the Black Walnut and it said it’s root can be toxic to plants around it. According to Ohio State University’s website they produce a substance known as juglone which may be injure or kill plants within the root zone of these trees. The toxic zone from a mature tree occurs on average in a 50 to 60 foot radius from the trunk, but can be up to 80 feet. I have a garden and other vegetation (including a pine, orange, lemon, avocado, and a nectarine tree and a vegetable garden)in my backyard so would you recommend that I remove this tree rather than relocate it to another spot? Thank you!
