Name that plant

Hi All! Need some help. My boyfriend insists this is a tree but I believe it is a weed. A very large weed. Please help us identify it! Thanks!

With out its flowers to be certain, I’m speculating this could be a type of Acacia? Perhaps the blackwood acacia (Acacia melanoxylon)? Check out it and see if you have a match.
