This is a bush from the front of my Woodstock, GA home. I want to prune it back but I need to identify it first to see when the best time too do that is.
Thanks.

Nandina. Prune from the bottom one stem at a time.

It’s a nandina. I enjoy their bright berries — especially when it snows on the bush. Years ago, I heard the best way to prune these is to cut one stem back to the ground every year because it keeps putting up new stems / shoots.

From your picture it looks like a Nandina. From my experience, you almost can’t kill the things. I know that they are classified as invasive in several states, including Georgia.

This is a variety of nandina. There are varieties of dwarf ones and there is a larger one called ‘Heavenly bamboo’ which is considered to be invasive.
Don’t know which one you have by looking at the photo.
