Blueberry Bushes- Pruning
Q: I have shoots coming up from the base of my blueberry bushes. They are growing fast. Do they need to be pruned?
A: They are valuable to the plant. If you have more than three or four older canes, cut off the oldest one (it will be brown and barky) and let one or two new ones take its place. More sprouts will emerge from the ground in future years. Follow the same process with them and your bush will be completely renewed, as it should be, every five years.
