Notes:
We bought our new house right before Thanksgiving. This plant is right next to our garage which gets plenty of light. I thought it was a dead bush and one day in passing I just clipped it down until I could dig it up. Well it grew back and got blooms about a month ago. I was shocked. The blooms then died before thy could open and parts of the plant looked burnt. So I clipped back the “burned” parts. Resembles poke berry. Don’t think that’s what it is. Could be wrong though.

Treat it well and maybe next year it will be happier. 🙂 Ours took three years to bloom but this year it was glorious.

I think you are right! I posted it to Facebook and had a couple of people say peony. Thank you! When I googled peony the very first article was about how sometimes the blooms won’t open because the plant is unhappy and it made perfect sense!
