Cleveland Select Pear Tree – Characteristics
Q: I would like some information about the ‘Cleveland Select’ pear tree. My husband and I planted some of the ‘Clevelands’, thinking they would be very much like a ‘Bradford’ pear with stronger branches. Are there any serious pest/disease problems with the ‘Cleveland’?
A: ‘Cleveland’ is much more upright than ‘Bradford’. It is probably less likely to split apart than ‘Bradford’. It gets fire blight occasionally but no more than ‘Bradford’ does.
