Mulch – Not Against Foundation
Q: I have heard several different stories about placing pine and cypress mulch next to a house. Some say it will attract termites and others say it makes no difference. Could you shed some light on the subject?
A: Dr. Dan Suiter, Extension entomologist, says it is best to keep any mulch at least 12 inches from the foundation. This prevents termites from “bridging” over treated soil to reach your house.
