Notes:
I was at a friends house and asked her what this plant was. It was in a big pot and is just gorgeous but she did not know the name of it.

Looks just like the purple blue Morning Glory Ipomoea that grows well in the Northeast. Leaves, habit and buds all reminiscent of it. Looks like something is doing a lot of munching on the leaves, plus maybe not enough water….

Maybe Redstar/red morning glory (Ipomoea rubriflora syn. Ipomoea coccinea L.)? This species is easily confused with another similar looking species in the genus, the Scarlet creeper/Scarlet morning glory (I. hederifolia). To my eyes the leaves appear not to have 3 deeply lobes as of those in Scarlet creeper. Wish I could see its fruits clearly to tell more.
