Notes:

This white-flowered plant appeared on the side of the house this summer. A neighbor called it devil's trumpet and said it was very poisonous. What we read on this site seems ambivalent. Is there a case for keeping this plant or is eradication the obvious priority?

This might be the species called downy thorn-apple (Datura inoxia)? It is highly poisonous but plenty of ornamental plants in home landscaping also have toxic property in example the oleander shrub. However small children & pets would be a concern. Steps are needed to prevent access to any poisonous things whether plants or household chemicals are stored outdoor. Perhaps these included links can help you decide in keeping or eradicating. Also according to sources, this is plant in the nightshade (Solanaceae) family and very susceptible to diseases, planting this genus far away tomatoes and potatoes. Best wishes.
