Notes:
This plant just makes me smile every time I see it, year after year. Grows in shade/partial shade, comes up 1x/year, about 6-8″ tall, 4-7″ broad, on skinny stalks. Comes up early-mid April; dies back down mid-late June. Lives at the base of a couple of dogwood trees. All animals, including deer, leave them alone. The grouping hasn’t gotten any larger over the years, just comes up in this one spot year after year.

Thanks so much! Certainly looks to be Mayapple – I’ve never ever seen any fruit on those in my yard. Do small animals take the fruit? Or does the fruit drop and allow the plant to grow the following year?
