Notes:
This plant was a gift from an elderly neighbour. She’s been growing these for years but does not know what they are. I would like to thank her by finding out its name. She told me to let it rest over the winter (after the plant dries away in the fall) and to replant in the spring. Apparently I will find approx 4 little “potatoes” (as she phrased it) in the soil – I’m guessing tubers – and each would grow into a new plant. Supposed to like sun and moist soil but is sensitive to cold and draft.

Thank you laura735, you were clearly spot-on! The pics and info on the link you gave were a perfect match. I’ve already found the plant’s name in Hungarian – “mesevirag” (meaning “fairytale flower”). My elderly neighbour will be delighted! Thanks again! 🙂
