This planter was outside a restaurant I went to recently. I would like to do something similar in a planter outside my house. Does anyone know what the black leaves plant as well as the spiky red plant? Thanks!

The black leaves are ornamental sweet potato vine (Ipomoea batatas). This might be the cultivar ‘Blackie’. The red plant is some kind of ornamental grass. It is hard to tell which type this is. I am guessing this might be the variegated fountain grass “Fireworks” (Pennisetum setaceum “Fireworks”).
