Notes:
These are growing in clumps in somewhat of a xeriscape rock garden near where I work. I pulled up a sprout that had grown out away from its clan and potted it. It has hollow segments that are about the same diameter of a small soda straw with about 2″ to 2 ” between joints. The closest thing I can find online is called “Horsetail Reed” but I’m not sure. Can anyone confirm? Thank you.

It does look like a type of Equisetum, Horsetail. Hard to say which species without more photos of the plants. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equisetum
