Notes:
Pls help me identify this hedge plant. I am guessing it is a type of bamboo plant, it is about 5 ft tall. the second picture is a close up of what the leaves look like. It doesn’t loose its leaves in the cold months. Please help me identify this plant and tell me about the root system of this particular plant. You do not have a selection for Southwest region so I just selected Midwest region, but I am in the desert southwest. Thank you!

This does look like bamboo. It will be difficult to tell more without other details i. E. closeup of node, culm (cane), branch node, etc. Although the roots are not visible, to my eyes these appear to be of the clumping type. Check out the included link below for variety of bamboos and see if you have a match. Best wishes! on the side note, according to other people that have grown these, bamboos are difficult to control even the clumping ones. In my own experience, it took me few years to eradicate a beautiful clumping type. The clump kept getting bigger and was about to encroach into my neighbors yard. http://www.bamboobotanicals.ca/html/about-bamboo/bamboo-growth-habits.html
