Hi, is a hydrangea that blooms on new or old wood? Based on descriptions I thought it bloomed on old wood, but the picture the old branches are not growing anything. 2 years ago I chopped the whole thing back in the fall and it didn’t flower at all the following yr, can u help identify? Should I cut back the old branches? Thx

Regrettably it will be hard to tell without flowers. I would hold off pruning until your hydrangea is ID. Best you consult the experts from the American Hydrangea Society for the correct cultivar. Yearly membership is $ 35.00Best wishes!
