Notes:
Mystery shrub from my backyard Atlanta garden- thought it was a sweetshrub but I now think it’s a weed. It does not bloom as far as I can tell. The second photo was supposed to be of the trunk (not the azalea!) but I had trouble getting a photo in focus.

Japanese persimmon. Again, I’m only guessing. https://landscapeplants.oregonstate.edu/plants/diospyros-kaki

Without its flowers to tel more, I’m guessing something in the persimmon perhaps (Diospyros)? if this is a wild seedling, possible the American type (D. virgieana), if it was planted maybe the Japanese’s (D. kaki).Check it out and see if you have a match. If isn’t persimmon, please resubmit with photos of the whole plant, its side view, back of the leaves, and leaf buds. Thank you and best wishes! American persimmon. https://www.carolinanature.com/trees/divi.html
