Notes:
I purchased this “perennial” (shrub) at the supermarket today. It’s beautiful, but I have no clue what it is. Any guesses?

Maybe a species in the stonecrop genus (sedum). This might be the Sedum polytrichoides ‘Chocolate Ball’ (?). on the side note, I’m not an expert of Sedum genus and with images for similar looking to yours are listed with both names, S. polytichoides ‘Chocolate ball & S. hakonenses ‘Chocolate ball’. You might want to get further help from the experts of the International Crassulaceae Network for its exact ID. Best wishes! Images for Sedum polytrchoides ‘Chocolate Ball’.
