Notes:

planted by previous owners, growing with bunches of small oval berries. Berries are purple on the outside with sweet red juice and small seeds in each.

    Grape holly… Mahonia. Blooms in January, and those purple berries are supposed to be good to eat… I ate one yesterday, but it wasn’t really ripe enough… It didn’t taste bad…

    That’s a Mahonia. A little bit hard to say exactly which, but with those few broad leaflets it may be Mahonia bealei.
