i inherited a side garden in our new house, last year i tilled it (kind of) and made it a seed garden, this year i have a few weird things coming back i dont jnow what it was but pretty sure i didnt plant it. anyone know what this is? its growing in two places in perfect clumps. thank you in advance for your help!
Not pokeweed, and not joe pye. I think it might be Late Boneset (Eupatorium serotinum). http://www.namethatplant.net/plantdetail.shtml?plant=557

I have a lot of this too. HUGE ROOTS. Like a 4 foot long carrot. Not kidding. Ugh.

That’s Joe Pye Weed, not Poke. I’ve got that all throughout the backs of my perennial beds. Lovely, maintenance free. Gets about 5 feet tall, pale pink flowers at the tops of the stems late summer. Looks pretty in the winter garden (seed heads).

Pokeweed. Too large for breakfast.
