Weevil sounds right, but looks more like a strawberry weevil, said to feed on arborvitaes which are plentiful in my yard. I also read that they seek water and can be found in bathtubs and sinks. What do you think? The size is right. Difficult to tell from the picture but it had a yellow stripe across the tail end.
