To my eyes it appears there are two different plants from these two pictures. Top plant- Maybe a type of Ligustrum (privet)? Probably some thing in the Japanese ligustrum (Ligustrum japonicum). Bottom plant- Maybe a type of gardenia. If neither of these are match, please resubmit with photos of the whole plant, their side views & flowers if there are any.
