Before we go on a spree to pull these rampant weeds out of the yard, does anybody know what kind of weed this is? What is it called? Most of them are currently about six inches high, but there’s some much taller ones as well. They’ve been growing in the past few months, practically thriving. Overall they seem harmless, except for being overly abundant.

    looks like a chenopodium… possibly Chenopodium californicum or Chenopodium murale Many of us grow chenopodiums as a veggie… The young leaves or stem tips before bloom are good as a salad green or as a potherb… The seeds can be prepared like quinoa. People who do not eat any other wild plant… do eat chenopodiums.
