This seed pod came from a small tree (about 8 feet tall or less) that grew in a park in Eugene, Oregon. I don’t think it’s native to Oregon as I’ve lived here my whole life and never seen one. The leaves looked similar to hazelnut leaves – they were sort of fuzzy and vaguely heart-shaped, wide, about 3-4 inches long with slightly toothed edges. The seedpod looks like an upside down heart with pointy ends. There were a lot of them and they were about 1″ and mostly hollow inside.
