this is growing in front of my house up from where a japanese maple once stood. i have no idea what it is, the area is surrounded by trees but the space is in full sun so i thought it was maybe a new tree growing. never flowers. thanks in advance for any info!

If it has white flowers and a dominating scent, I would say, Ligustrum.

Possibly a yaupon holly? The flowers are tiny, and it may not have gotten large enough yet to bloom…
