Notes:
Does anyone know what kind of grass this is? It was here when we bought the place and we like it so much we would like to seed/sod the lawn with it after we grade around the newly built house. It has thick blades and stays short. It reminds me of mondo grass but does not grow in mounds. there’s some irises growing up through it so you can see where they are is not mowed and that is as tall as it gets. Which is why we like it so much. Less mowing. Thanks!

Ahh yes! That does sound like that might be it, except it does seem to brown in winter. Yes, there was a mobile home on the property and we built a new house and had the trailer hauled away. This grass is in 2 separate spots pretty far from each other and I wonder if the spots in between died over the years or was overcome by weeds. All I know is that it always looks good whether we mow it or not! I will do more research to make sure it’s the lawn for us, thank you so much!!

Just curious about your building site. Is it on an old home site? Slow growing certainly describes centipede grass. Compare yours with that described in this link. http://turfid.ncsu.edu/csPagedPdField.aspx?PlantID=ERLOP
