Was given this plant from a friend. She states it’s supposed to bloom but she hasn’t seen it yet.

You could plant it in the area where you can decide later to keep or not if it turns some you don’t want. Link to shrubby lepedeza. https://www.invasive.org/eastern/srs/sl.html

I can’t tell exactly which genus it belongs to with the flower. I could only suggesting that you check out these two genera, the Scotch broom- (Cytisus scoparius), and the shrubby lepedeza (Lepedeza bicolor). There is one more group yellow baptisia ( Baptisia sphaerocarpa), with out the plant’s scale and its leaves do not seem to fit in that group. Although I don’t think yours is that, but I hope I’m wrong, since it is a good plant to have. Link below is for Scotch broom. Again, until this blooms to confirm its ID, I’m only speculating. Best wishes! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cytisus_scoparius
