Notes:

I live in New York and recently moved into a house where there is a mystery shrub in the backyard. The previous owners didnÕt take great care of the yard, so while it looks like it was intentionally planted (and therefore probably ornamental) we arenÕt sure. ItÕs about 10 feet tall and has multiple stems at the base, each 3-5 inches in diameter. We didnÕt see any flowers on it this spring.

    With out flowers to help with the ID, I could only speculating for now. This might be some thing in the Amelanchier genus(?). Some of common names include; serviceberry, shadbush, saskatoon, etc… I can’t tell if this is a hybrid or a species in the genus. Check out these included links below for images and information.
