Notes:
My 2 year old Anna apple tree last year developed what I think was ‘rust”; leaves spotty and yellowed and began falling off. I sprayed with fungicide with no apparent effect. I hoped it would sprout in the spring. It is planted on my farm in Suches. And after not visiting it for a month, last weekend I found it blown over. Close inspection of the trunk looks like it dry rotted. Also a bulbous growth near the break. Any ideas? I have two different species of apple planted adjacent.

stone Master Identifier says:
looks like something damaged the bark. rodents? once the bark has been damaged like that… your tree is lost.
