I have this excellent book of rare and endangered wildflowers published in 1970, it is Spiderlily.

The USDA plant database doesn’t show much difference between the Spider lily, Hymenocallis Salisb., and the Alligator lily, Hymenocallis palmeri S. Watson. It seems they can both grow in similar habitats as well. Can their differences be explained to one without the benefit of a botany degree?
