we have bought the house and I can’t identify the bush (the leaves are hard and glossy, alternate, stayed green throughout the winter even under the snow however many leaves are covered with brown spots now) and the small tree. thank you

I’d suspect a Japanese maple for the tree, but since I’m not seeing a lot of leafing out yet, can’t really say.
