Notes:

Found this in the nest just outside our back door. Killed it after loss of two baby robins. Looks like rat snake but has the faint markings and a slightly square head. Four feet long, yikes!

    Also appears to be sort of in between the appearance of black rat snakes and grey rat snakes.

    The muted pattern would appear to be consistent with a cottonmouth moccasin, but can’t see, nor do you describe, that its head was triangular,as a moccasin’s would be.
