Notes:
I have noticed curious ruffled edges on some of the leaves on my bean plants but cannot find any bugs. It is only happening on the plants for dried beans & not on my regular green & yellow beans. Otherwise, plants are very healthy. Is this from birds? Let me know what you think. Thanks

Compare with long-tail skipper. Their normal host plant is desmodium, but they will use our garden beans in a pinch. They’re a cool butterfly, and the damage is fairly insignificant, so… I leave them be. http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/wildflower/completebutterflydata.asp?id=46

I don’t think it’s slugs, snails or caterpillars as there is no evidence of them or their droppings. I’ve seen plenty of insect damage over the years but this is a new one. It looks like pieces of the edge is cut & then folded back almost like a kid’s craft project.

Looks to me like something is eating it. Some creepy crawlies only come out at night.
