Notes:
I have seen neat rows of damaged bark on my sasanquas, at first believing it to be the work of a bird. Now I think some insect or disease is to blame after discovering this oozing mess. Can you tell me what this is and how to prevent it? Thanks!

I would not have guessed it was squirrels, as if it is not enough that they eat my fruits and vegetables, destroy my potted rootings, plant pecans and oaks in the most difficult places to dig out, and chew my window sills! Thank you for the information.
