Bermudagrass – Common Type Invading Sodded Type
Q: Ten years ago bermuda sod was laid in our yard. As time has gone by our grass is showing a stronger two-tone effect in its color. I assume we have a mix of different bermuda grasses. If we replace the lawn and have resodded, how can we be sure we are getting the same type sod in the shipment?
A: I think you’re right: you have two different varieties of bermudagrass. My suspicion is that the lighter grass is common bermuda and the darker stuff is your original sod.
That said, it’s going to be difficult to wipe out the offending grass. “Roundup and re-sod” is your best option.
