Notes:

This was taken at Cascade Springs Nature Preserve. It was between two trees about 10-15′ off the ground. I understand the squirrel baffle, but is that some kind of seed? or is this something totally different?

    Hot pepper suet keeps squirrels away (but not rats and other rodents)! Not sure the others like it but they try to eat through the suet feeders to get at it, whereas squirrels avoid it altogether.

    It looks to me like 2 stems of seeds someone put up there to feed the birds. Sort of like the berries on sumac

    If I thought this lampshade thing would keep the squirrrels away from my suet feeder, I would try it – hanging it 10 feet off the ground from a very narrow wire hasn’t worked.
