laura735 Master Identifier says:
It will be difficult with out flowers to help narrow down its ID. I’m taking a guess only, this is either yellow anise (Illicium parviflorum) or Florida anise/purple anise (Illicium florianum)? I’m leaning toward the yellow anise. Check it out and see if you have a match. If it isn’t Illicium, when it blooms make new post with photo of flower. Best wishes! https://www.google.com/search?q=illicium&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi21LXerKjUAhUn7oMKHWfGBHMQiR4IlQE&biw=2144&bih=1015
