More photos of the plant like Metrosideros, and parityanimal had suggested to narrowing down it’s ID. For now, I’m guessing only, maybe wood apple aka bael (Aegle marmelos)?. According to sources, the very fragrant fruit of wood apple needs about 11 months to ripen on the tree. It has a tough woody shell, machetes or hammers are needed to crack it open. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aegle_marmelos
